On the weekend of December 15th-17th, Totanhan Nakaha Lodge hosted their annual Lodge Leadership Development at Stearns Scout Camp. With tons of activities and trainings, the weekend was a huge success.
The weekend was full of trainings such as Performing Effectively in Your Role, Building and Maintaining Relationships, Leading Vs Serving, and many more. Alongside our trainings we had many fun activities that arrowmen engaged in. From a large sledding adventure to a cookie decorating competition, this weekend showed that leadership development can be fun and within the OA it will be. While the youth were learning during their training sessions, Lodge Adviser Stu Smith was leading an Advisers Summit, discussing and determining what general topics must be focused on in the near future.
Lodge Leadership Development is one of, if not my favorite Lodge event every year. Its a perfect balance between fun and preparing the future leaders of our Lodge, Chapters, and Units. I’ve noticed that with the aftermath of Covid, we are missing a number of arrowmen in the Junior-Senior class, and my time as a Lodge Chief won’t last forever. Taking this weekend to teach dozens of our younger arrowmen skills they will need in their future endeavours is necessary for the Lodge to continue thriving. With this Lodge Leadership Development being our last Lodge event before our Centennial Year begins it marks 100 years of successful leaders being built, and hopes towards 100 years of future leaders!
